An Encouraging Conversation With ...The Prime Minister About The R&D Tax Credit Initiative

Boris final

Tom Verner, Managing Director of The Momentum Group, was in the privileged position of meeting Prime Minister Boris Johnson to discuss R&D tax credits.

This week, Tom Verner, Managing Director of The Momentum Group, was in the privileged position of meeting Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

The visit came as part of a Trade NI business delegation to the launch of the trade body’s Vision 2030 at the Irish Embassy in Westminster. The plan has a strategic focus on job creation and making Northern Ireland a sustainable, competitive and global economy.

Innovation is a key priority for helping local companies increase their competitiveness. The delegation was encouraged by the feedback that Northern Ireland companies are ‘punching above their weight’ and that we are well and truly open for business.

Performing well in several key industry sectors such as technology, construction and manufacturing, Northern Ireland has also been establishing itself as an international hub for cyber security research and innovation, in part illustrated by the work at CSIT, the UK’s Innovation and Knowledge Centre for cyber security at Queen’s University Belfast.

At a private reception at 10 Downing Street, Tom told the Prime Minister that he was “encouraged” by the recent commitment by the UK government to the increased spend for R&D. “It’s a great initiative,” the Prime Minister said.

With increasing levels of R&D financial support available, it is crucial that organisations partner with specialised and trusted advisors to maximise and compliantly manage their R&D tax credit claims.

The Momentum Group works closely with progressive and innovative SME and large companies in the UK and Ireland to strategically advise and manage this complex and specialised area.

As a trusted partner, using our expertise, experience and insight, Momentum can optimise the benefit for R&D activity so that relief can be channelled back into the company to facilitate business growth and a more competitive economy for Northern Ireland.

Special thanks to the Trade NI leadership team: Stephen Kelly, Chief Executive of Manufacturing NI; Colin Neill, Chief Executive of Hospitality Ulster; and Glyn Roberts, Chief Executive of Retail NI.
